At i-lex (operated by Bee4Dev, based in Panama), we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our platform.
1. Information We Collect
We collect: (a) Account information (name, email, password hash); (b) Case data you input (titles, descriptions, parties, courts, dates); (c) Usage data (logins, AI calls, features used); (d) Payment information (processed by third-party providers, we never store card numbers); (e) Communication preferences (email, WhatsApp).
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your data to: (a) Provide and maintain the service; (b) Generate AI-powered legal strategies based on your case input; (c) Send hearing alerts via email and WhatsApp; (d) Process payments and manage subscriptions; (e) Communicate updates, security notices, and respond to support requests; (f) Improve the platform through aggregated, anonymized analytics.
3. AI Processing and Data
Your case data is sent to AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic) ONLY when you explicitly request a strategy. These providers have contractual obligations NOT to train their models on your data. We send the minimum necessary information for analysis. AI-generated strategies are stored encrypted in our database.
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell your data. We share data only with: (a) AI providers (when you request analysis); (b) Payment processors (for billing); (c) Email/WhatsApp providers (for alerts you opted into); (d) Legal authorities (only when legally required by court order in Panama).
5. Data Security
All data is encrypted at rest (AES-128) and in transit (TLS 1.3). Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. API credentials are stored in an encrypted vault. We maintain audit logs of administrative access. We follow industry best practices for SaaS security.
6. Your Rights (Law 81/2019 Panama + GDPR)
You have the right to: (a) Access your data; (b) Correct inaccurate data; (c) Delete your account and data; (d) Export your data in machine-readable format; (e) Object to certain processing; (f) Withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@i-lex.co.
7. Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active. After account deletion, data is permanently removed within 30 days, except: (a) Records required by Panamanian tax law (retained 7 years per Tax Code); (b) Anonymized usage statistics; (c) Backups (purged within 90 days).
8. International Transfers
Our servers are located in the United States (AWS). When you use i-lex, your data may be processed in countries outside Panama. We ensure adequate protection through contractual safeguards and use only providers with strong privacy commitments.
9. Children's Privacy
i-lex is intended for legal professionals and law students aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect information from minors. If we discover such data, we delete it immediately.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Significant changes will be notified by email at least 30 days in advance. The 'Last updated' date at the top reflects the current version.
